Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course and Exam

Update from NRPA regarding the CPSI Recertification Policy change beginning on July 1st, 2026:

"Individuals with a CPSI expiration date of July 1, 2026, or later will have the opportunity to submit a CPSI Recertification Application or complete the CPSI examination to recertify. CPSI Course and Exam

This course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification & risk management methods offered. Advanced reading and 10 hours of training will prepare you for the Certified Playground Safety Inspector Exam scheduled at the culmination of this certification course.

CPRA will offer two CPSI Course and Exams every year - one in mid-late spring and one late summer. The 1st CPSI of 2026 for May 20th-22nd at the Broomfield Community Center in Broomfield, CO is SOLD OUT.

Who should attend?

Schedule at a Glance:

Course – Typically a Wednesday and Thursday
Check In – 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday
Class Schedule – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day
Meals – We will provide lunch on Wednesday and Thursday
Course Materials – Don’t forget to bring your course materials to reinforce the lecture content
Playground Inspection – An outdoor playground inspection is included and will be performed on Thursday afternoon.

Exam –Friday
Check In – 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a. m.
Exam Schedule – 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Requirements – Individuals taking the exam must present TWO current forms of identification- one with a signature and another with a photo. Test proctors cannot permit admittance into the exam without TWO current forms of identification. Please note that course materials are not permitted for use during the exam.
