2019 Idea Exchange

Collaborate with fellow programming professionals by participating in round-table discussions and idea exchanging!

We will have one main keynote speaker in the morning and then two breakout sessions in the afternoon. Max number of registrants due to room capacity is 40.

Keynote Speaker- Jo Burns, Jo Burns Consulting, Connecting the Dots for Health. Parks and recreation is an important dot in the big picture of health for communities, individuals and families.  What are Colorado Parks & Recreation professionals doing to make sure we are an integral “dot” in the picture?  What is national research showing?  What makes us a great fit to be part of the overall picture of health for our citizens, our communities and our state?  Who are the other “dots” filling out the picture of health? The picture of health looks different for all of us.  Together we can complete the picture of health by connecting all the dots!  Join us for a candid facilitated discussion to try and answer these compelling and complex questions.

Breakout Session 1- Aspen DeField & Andrea Guarnieri, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, Denver Parks and Recreation, Programming an Inclusive Recreation Experience. Adaptive sports, internal processes, special events, inclusion best practices, recruitment, TRAC - one on one therapeutic program. Address barriers to older adults participating in our programs at the centers (isolation, fear, decline in physical ability, income, transportation, etc.)?
